TWO of the county’s clubs went head-to-head in the FAW Trophy on Friday (October 4) when Goytre (Gwent) beat Chepstow Town 2-0.
Goytre’s scorers were Dan Barnard and Alfie Young.
In the Ardal League South East Tredegar Town beat Chepstow Town 1-0 while Caldicot Town earned a draw at Blaenavon Blues thanks to a goal from Ben Donoghue.
Meanwhile in the FAW Reserves South East League
Abercarn United and Goytre (Gwent) Reserves drew 2-2 with Craig Jolliffe scoring twice.
Abergavenny Town beat Abertillery Bluebirds 3-1 thanks to Kieran Dobbs, sub Aaron Hughes and Joel Ali goals while Caldicot Town went goal crazy beating Treowen Stars 9-1.
Town’s marksmen were Giancarlo Gabbiadini, Tyrone Tucker-Dixon 3, Sonnie Creasey, Ethan Bowles, Ibrahim Hussien, Luke James and Stefan Alexander.
Chepstow Town Reserves lost 5-0 at home to Newport Corinthians and Undy Reserves went down 3-0 at home to Cwmbran Celtic.

Division 2 side Thornwell R&W lost 3-2 at home to Cwmcarn Athletic
Thornwell and Usk Town lost 3-0 at home to Alway.

The East Gwent League Division 1 saw Caldicot Castle welcome Sudbrook CCFC who triumphed 2-1 thanks to Adrian Evans and Joe Belcher goals. Caldicot Towns Thirds welcomed their Chepstow Town counterparts who came away with three points after a 4-2 win.
Chepstow’s goals were scored by Ben Waters and Matt Bajjada penalty while a Mason Haysom hat-trick and a Peter Scarfi strike sealed the points.
The Monmouth Town Reserves - Undy Athletic 3rds yielded nine goals, Town running out 6-3 winners.
Josh Maksimovic helped himself to a 37 minute hat-trick before Dave Elworthy made it 4-2 at the break, Undy’s marksmen being Zak Hitchens and Tom Waters.
The second half saw a Matt Jones goal and a missed penalty for Monmouth, while Alex Pitt scored for Undy and Ben Robb sealed three points with a goal eight minutes before the final whistle.
In Division 2 a single goal by Underwood’s Kieran Watkins sealed the points at Severn Tunnel while Sudbrook CCFC Res lost 5-3 to Caldicot Castle Reserves.
Sudbrook’s goals were scored by Connor Brown while James Lopategui, a Ryan Marchant brace and a Joel Ayres strike sealed the points.
The score was the same at Tintern where Portskewett and Sudbrook ran out 5-3 winners.
After the visitors stormed into a 3-0 lead thanks White, Sweet and Grannell Abbey recovered with goals from Yamagata and Coleman’s two goals.
Back came Port & Sud with a Kinsella brace to seal victory.
