Simon Wetter has revealed that Caldicot Town are unlikely to sign any more players this season as the club aim to avoid relegation from Division One of the Welsh League.
The club recently re-signed Gareth Hayward but with a small budget to work with, it is now expected that Town will offer the chance for their youngsters to stake a claim for a more permanent place.
"It was a big bonus to bring Gareth back, he is a Caldicot man through and through but I think we are going to try and go with what we have now," said Wetter.
"We've got guys, like Mark Williams and Dan Rowberry, coming back to fitness and that will bolster the squad and the youngsters are really putting their hands up and being counted at the moment."
Despite having played just four league fixtures since October the 30th, Town have rebounded from their abysmal start and have picked up eight points in those fixtures while also qualifying for the third round of the League Cup.
"It's quite important we push on now for a mid-table spot over the coming months. On our day we can compete with anyone in this league," said Wetter.
"The cup will also play an important role in that because it will help with the confidence levels of the team. With a bit of a luck I think we can go all the way in that competition."
After seeing last weekend's home game against Taffs Well postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, Town are keen to ensure that this week's game against Goytre United will go ahead.
Perhaps the biggest reason for this is that the fixture will see the return of Jason Thorn and Gareth Cullimore to their former stomping ground.
The strike-force were one of the key components behind Town's success last season and still have many friends at the club and Wetter expects the pair to receive a warm welcome on Saturday.
"There is no animosity towards them at all, in fact they still visit the club on regular occasions. But that doesn't mean we won't play hard out on the field, I am sure our defenders will let Jason and Gareth know that they are there.
"It's a big game for us, though. We really need to hit the road running and continue the momentum we began to build before the Taffs Well postponement."
